1.   What can the course lead to?

All students enter our 32 week/3 term programme with the intention of going to a British University the following year. Our foundation programme is specifically designed to prepare you by exposing you to an all English education environment. You will leave A+ Global with the skills, language, knowledge and attitude to successfully go on to study at degree level in the UK.

2.   What will I study?

All students will study: Academic English and Study Skills: for IELTS; Business Studies; Economics; Statistics; Mathematics; and British Culture. Students also participate in our Social Activity and UK Home Stay Programmes; these enable them to see the benefits of self development outside of the classroom.

3.   How will I be taught and assessed?

You will be taught in small class sizes, of no more than 16 students. Classes take the form of tutorials, seminars and lectures, all taught in English, and are assessed by either examination or coursework.

All teaching takes place between 9.30 – 5.30 Monday to Friday. During some national holidays you may be required to make up classes on a weekend, you will be told in advance of any changes to the timetable.

4.   What support is available?

As well as your course teachers, you will also have two full-time tutors who will always be able to help if you have any questions or problems. There is also a member of staff who stays in the school to offer welfare support should you need it.

5.   What are the entry requirements?

Our programme is suitable for students from a wide range of different education backgrounds. We accept students of IELTS 5.5 and above. If your current level of English is not at 5.5 we are able to offer you pre-sessional English courses for either 6 (IELTS 5.0 intake) or 12 weeks (IELTS 4.5 intake). On successful completion of this course we would welcome you to join our school.

If you haven’t taken the IELTS test, you will be asked to take our internal entry tests.

6.   Where will I live?

All students will live in boarding school style accommodation.

We have established relationships with many universities in the UK; you can apply to any of the following through us:

10.   What about the teachers and their qualifications?

All our teachers are qualified and experienced in their subject. Beyond this we ensure all our teachers have the ability to relate to young people and instil in them the confidence and desire to be successful.

11.   Why is the course so expensive?

As well as high quality teachers and exposure to a British teaching approach, students will have access to the best of teaching materials and resources. Our commitment to our students extends from the classroom to their welfare; from first class accommodation, an enriching social programme and visa fees for the UK we take care of every aspect of their transition to studying and living in the UK.

12.   What is included in orientation?

All students will be met on arrival and taken to the school. They will be given a welcome pack including: a map of the local area; a copy of their timetable and other important school information.

Before term starts all students are invited to a welcome day which will include a presentation from our founder followed by lunch.

13.   Do you have a list of the social activities?

Our social activities programme changes year to year but be assured it will be fun and designed to help you relax and enjoy yourself. You will get the chance to socialise with your classmates and tutors outside of the classroom in a variety Chinese and Western ways.

For example; visit the Summer Palace, watch an Opera, go bowling, have a picnic in a local park, celebrate at a Christmas party, visit the 798 Art District, learn to cook some traditional Chinese food, enjoy western food and watch a foreign film.

14.   Will there be a teacher managing the accommodation and self study periods?

There is a member of the A+ Global team who lives full-time with you in the school. They will always be on call to help you if you have any questions or problems. There is also an emergency number for help 24/7.

During your self-study periods your tutors will always be available to help if you have any questions about your classes, homework or want to practise your speaking skills.

15.   Is the accommodation safe?

The school is located in a gated complex; it is very safe with guards on duty 24 hours a day. Additionally, there will be a member of staff taking care of students outside school hours.

16.   What options are there for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

All students will have an Ayi who will cook and prepare meals for them. Students are also to eat out at the restaurants in the area.

17.   Am I guaranteed progression to a British university?

Students are not guaranteed progression to a British University however every help will be given to you so that you are successful. Students who are determined to work hard will have no problem reaching this goal.
