University of Kent

Overview

The University of Kent is a leading research-intensive university in the south-east of England. Known as the UK’s European university, Kent offers many opportunities to study and work abroad. With its main campuses in Canterbury and Medway, and postgraduate centres in Brussels and Paris, Kent has an international reputation for academic excellence, inspirational teaching and a fantastic student experience.
Kent has over 19,000 students and is one of the most cosmopolitan universities in the country.

The University has consistently been rated as one of the best universities in the UK according to the National Student Survey. In 2008, the University was awarded The Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for the work of its Kent Law Clinic.

Strengths

  • The University offers on-campus accommodation for all new undergraduate and postgraduate students for their first year of study at the Canterbury campus.
  • The University Accommodation Office offers an information and advice service to assist students to find suitable housing on or off campus which may be accessed from their homepage.
  • The original campus in Canterbury covers over 300 acres of parkland and is just over a mile from Canterbury’s city centre in the south east of England.
  • Kent provides a very safe environment offering excellent facilities. The Templeman library contains over one million items.
  • Kent also has an on-campus Medical Centre and Pharmacy offering a range of clinics and advice. On the Canterbury campus there is also a sick-bay which is open 24 hours a day.
  • The English Language Unit provides on-going support for non-native speakers of English through weekly interactive language classes.
  • The Sports Centre offers some of the best student sports facilities in the country and operates a sport-for-all policy to encourage everybody to keep fit and healthy, either as recreational users or as serious athletes.
