University of Stirling 

Overview

Founded in the year 1967, the University of Stirling is one of Scotland’s top universities, with strengths in both teaching and research. The University is based on three campuses in: Stirling, Inverness and Stornoway and has much to offer students from all backgrounds and interests. With strong foundations in teaching and research, the University provides its multi-national student community with unique, flexible, broad-based learning opportunities.

The student population of around 9,000 is drawn from across the UK and also includes a large international community.

Strengths

  • The Stirling campus is a large, single-site campus just outside the historic city of Stirling in central Scotland, the University is renowned for having one of the most stunning locations in Europe.
  • The Campus is less than an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and is within easy reach of the Scottish Highlands.
  • It has over 2,000 accommodation places available on-campus, and an additional 1,000 places off-campus, the University is able to accommodate most needs.
  • The University hosts some of the finest sports facilities; these include two national centres – the National Swimming Academy and the Gannochy National Tennis Centre, which has been recently expanded.
  • The university was recently named as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence and is a named training venue for the London 2012 Olympics.
  • The university has its own medical centre, which provides medical and dental care for the student population.
