University of East Anglia
Overview
The University was founded in the year 1963 and gained its Royal Charter in 1964. It has a student population of over 19,000, of whom around 2,500 are from outside the UK.
The University has been voted in the top 5 amongst mainstream English Universities for Student Satisfaction for 6 years running and is currently ranked 23rd in the Times Good University Guide and 19th in the Guardian University Guide.
Strengths

- UEA is also part of the Norwich Research Park which is one of Europe's leading centres for research and development in the areas of plants, microbes, food, health, the environment and information systems.
- The University currently has externally-funded research projects worth approximately £125 million.
- Each year UEA awards up to £1,000,000 to international students through the International Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding international applicants on the basis of academic merit and cover between 10 per cent and 50 per cent of tuition fees.
- The University library provides its students with 800,000 books and journals, 1,000 study places and 1,000 computers. There is 24 hour access to a large number of networked PCs and wireless internet access is available for laptop users.
